  2. UPDATE: 3/7/2017 Additional content added since I have been getting an influx of these specific problems: Memory Could not be written error: 1. Make sure this is your current file path; "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3" 1.a. If you need to move your arma3 files, DO NOT DRAG AND DROP to a new location. It will break the pointers steam has to arma3 and when you go to launch the game, steam will say it is not installed. Instead do the following. Right click Arma3 and go down to properties. Select Local Files from the top tabs and click Move install folder. See image below for reference. Comment: Yes, you can make an additional x86 file in another directory, but let's just keep it simple. Also technically, Arma3 still runs as 32bit but the ram...you know what never-mind, no one ever cares about my technical rambling. 2. If that doesn't fix it, you will have to do some file surgery. Follow the file path below: C:\Users\(your account name)\Documents\Arma 3 - Other Profiles\(Arma3 username)\Saved\mpmissions In that folder should file various folders like Exile.Altis, Exile.Tanoa, etc et al. Delete them all. This will cause you to re-download the MP mission file when you join the server, creating a new file. Comment: Sometimes your steam will not recognize that the mp mission file changed, so when you try and connect with a wrong mp mission you will crash out with a memory error. CBA mods disappearing from Arma3 launcher: Comment: When Steam updates content pointers can be broken, but that doesn't mean the file is gone. Don't download it again and waste precious HD space! 1. Launch Arma3, go into the mod manager and click +Local Mod. 2. Follow the file path in the image above, select 107410 or whatever file is in content and the mods will reappear.
  3. Preface: I am a bit of a fanboy for star citizen so my opinion is heavily biased. Game: The game itself is probably the most hyped up game ever. It tries to tackle so much and if it is all fulfilled it will be the largest most complex fps/mmorpg space sim game ever. The game developers actually hired a team of physicists just in order to properly mimic the movements of spacecraft and planets. Some of the facets are just mind boggling, like insurance on vessels for example. Try hard to not blindly jump onto the hype train like I did, it has been years of waiting. Content thus far: The game is still alpha, currently it is at 2.5 with 2.6 being released in the coming months. 3.0 is the stated benchmark for its official release. Right now there is a semi-persistent universe that gives a small glimpse into the game, progress gets reset every dot patch however. Flying and combat in that game is amazingly fun and complex. You don't just fly, you have to spend time learning the unique sub systems of each craft and power constraints for example. Appeal: The game is like Eve wrapped in a FPS, multi-crewed ships, specialized ships and etc that according to devs will literally let you do anything you want. You can make money bounty hunting, charting and exploring the galaxy and even mining as well. Not to mention the FPS shooter portion that will allow boarding of other ships. General Opinion: The game already imo, has tackled so much more then any other game to date. However, you have to take in account the games slow development.

  6. Welcome to the community, glad to have you. In regards to the fuel values, they are hard coded. We cannot change them without changing the mod itself. You can contact an ArmaIII Admin about having an vehicle swapped. In short, for example, that Gorgon you have in this example has multiple variants. There is probably a variant with a larger fuel capacity.
  7. Hey all! Just wanted to pass on the goodness. Humble Bundle is giving away DiRT 3 - Complete Edition for free. It is normally 29.99 USD on Steam. 8. Tom Clancy’s The Division™ ================================================== With the launch of 1.4, The Division has gone through leaps and bounds from what is was 1.0. Exploits and hacking have been addressed, the game is totally different and re-balanced. In light of that, I am likely going to be playing that a lot more. If you are interested in creating an OGG group there, post here and we can start organizing.
  9. Emperor's Glory! Join us brother and purge the xenos scum! ================================================================================ So Struemon Studio in partnership with Gamesworkshop is releasing a Warhammer 40k Tactical Fps. It looks glorious imo. Here is a link to the games website with details about content, media, gameplay, and etc. It is currently on sale on steam for 33.99, 15% off atm with preorder. I already picked it up, so if any of you also choose to get it let me know and we can purge the Hersey together!!
  10. As requested by players, pistol weapons/ammo tiers added to loadouts 2-10. Rep level 1 omitted since the primary weapon in that loadout is a pistol pdw.

  12. BE WARNED ADJUSTING LAUNCH PARAMETERS IS AN "ADVANCED" SKILL SET, YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY INTENT: My goal is to help users on this server increase FPS on the server and increase their knowledge base about their home computers. CONTENT: 1. Understanding RAM versus hard-drive space and virtual ram 2. Why you should increase virtual ram 3. How to adjust virtual ram How is RAM used =========== RAM is not your storage medium, so you cannot manually delete anything to free it up. RAM instead is a temporary storage location like your desk's work surface, which if it's cluttered with tools, papers, and other items (in other words, open applications or system add-ons) will be harder to organize and use. How the Hard-drive is used ================= Unlike RAM, which is the work space of the system, the hard drive is like the filing cabinet, drawers, and other storage locations of a desk where tools and papers are stored when not used. If the cabinets of your desk are already nearly full, it will be harder to stuff items in there without moving things around and constantly reorganizing. How Virtual Ram on the Hard-drive is used. =========================== Virtual memory on a computer can be best compared to a pull-out drawer in a desk that is easy to access but can be pushed out of the way of your main work space, and is used by the computer to temporarily store RAM contents that are loaded but not currently in use. Why should you increase virtual ram. =========================== When the system is low on RAM (work space) the system will make more use of virtual memory to free up the work space and allow other applications to open and load more documents. Even when the system does not need to use a lot of RAM, it still makes use of virtual memory in order to keep the work space tidy and organized. Increasing virtual ram in effect would increase your work space and decrease bottle necks throughout your system. It is a good rule of thumb to reserve 10% of your hard-drive for virtual ram. ================= How to adjust virtual ram ================= Go to Start Menu > click on Settings. Type performance > choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows. In the new window, go to the Advanced tab and under the Virtual memory section, click on Change. At the bottom of the new window, check what the Recommended value is and how it compares to Currently allocated. If the current setting is significantly less than the recommended, uncheck the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives box at the top of the same windows and then click on Custom size. Enter the Recommended value in the Initial Size box, and a larger figure in the Maximum size box. Remember to click set to save changes before clicking OK and then restart when prompted to enable changes.
  13. If you track your utilization and frames, the moment missions like black market and general's fob load onto the map your cpu usage skyrockets and your frames dump. I suspect this is due in part to the packet transfer rates the server is on. The same can be said when friendly ai aircraft fly over in view/render distance. You can force your computer to mem dump on the server currently. Park two cheetahs next to each other and have them begin firing. You can stand there and watch your frames dump and utilization skyrocket to the point where assets begin to fail to load. Point being there is a major disconnect atm with how the server is sending and receiving packets. This boils down to facets like how the server is set up, priorities if the server is virtual, and et al. The mission file doesn't seem large enough to be causing this problem, unless there is an erroneous mod in the mission file that is running an error and continually using server ram to create dump files of error logs. X's work to reduce total ai on the server at any given time seems to have helped. Leading me to believe that it is infact a server utilization issue. We can further refine this by implementing the ai reserve mechanics seen at the golden ketch mission. Where only X amount of ai is loaded at mission start but will continue to spawn ai as another one dies until value Y is met. However this is of course only a temporary solution. It would be smart imo to drop RHS and HLC entirely as it is not well supported. We could replace this with the complete cup lineup of vehicles, weapons, aircraft and et al. Cup is a known stable mod that meshes well, the steam support would be a godsend to those experiencing .dll errors. However this of course would mean we loose some of the unique weapons from RHS. In addition HLC is outdated, its assets and files have been taken over by another mod group. HLC is from what I have read no longer going to be a definite supported mod on Apex's future. NIarms superceeds it, keeping HLC would just become a burden in the long run.
  14. Type: PvE -Reason: It works, 'nuff' said. Map: Whatever -Reason: Because this is the United States of Whatever -- Mods: Ace Mod addition -Reason: Adds a lot of more mechanics to the game, not sure how it will mesh with Exile though. http://ace3mod.com/wiki/feature/ AI: More cowbell -Reason: More cowbell Others: Tylor for head player relations admin, 2016! ! - Because he smells funny
  15. @RobertWalker Here is the Arma3 Bohemia community page on .dll https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3:_Custom_Memory_Allocator I have no experience with them, I know Tylor uses a custom ttb malloc. Right now I am testing a new string you are welcome to try it. I am using: -nologs -cpuCount=4 -nosplash -exThreads=7 So far, I have noticed upfront that without forcing a specific System Ram and Vram utilization I cannot run my game at 3k/3k view distance. I experience too much throttling and stuttering from the CPU jumping up and down in utilization. However, with this current string I notice that at 1.5-2k it is a lot more stable in terms of rapid frame loss. However this could also be due to X's recent work on the server.
  16. I just wanted to advise people on some expectations and limitations I have furthered discovered from testing on the OGG server. {Read that as a lot of crashing} -malloc=system is not the most efficient memory allocator. There are .dll's that people are using to specifically task System Ram just for Arma that seem more efficient for the game. However, -malloc=system does seem to solve the memory dump problem at the cost of performance. From my resource monitoring it seems that the Arma3 allocators are tasking system Ram for the game and at the completion of the task or load it is not releasing the ram back to system but instead holds it and draws in more. -MaxMem and -MaxVRAM seems to be a double edged sword. For example, setting the values at 2000 reduces load times and increases FPS for a time. However prolonged gaming on the server seems to have negative effect in regards to the 2k caps. Basically, in my case for example with 4gb ddr5 Vram forcing 2000 to be allocated immediately loads me in at 60fps with 3k/3k view/object. However I no longer have the additional 2gb ddr5 to utilize under heavy loads and it can cause stuttering. From testing it seems the sweet spot for usable Vram for the game is around 3.8gb not the Bohemia stated 2047mb. I am by no means an expert and these are only my anecdotal observations to help inform you all.
  17. @Dane Thanks for taking time to do that, I did not know I was causing compatibility issue. UPDATE TO STRING CHANGE NOTES/REASONS BELOW: Changed -maxMem= and -maxVRAM= values from 2047 to 2000 Apparently, despite 2047 being the stated hard-cap coded value for memory from Bohemia's own startup parameter website, using that value can cause a time out in the connecting portion. *Rips hair out of head* Thanks for that Bohemia, great support >..> Sorry for any trouble that incorrect string may have caused. Added -malloc=system for those experiencing memory dumping. -Malloc=system is used to force use the Windows memory allocator.
  18. NOTE: If you adjusted your Launch Parameters in A3/Steam to include -nologs remove that now then launch the game to propagate the error messages into your .RPT before proceeding. INTENT: A quick guide to allow most users to correct issues with mods in order to connect with the OGG Server. STEPS AT A GLANCE: 1) Generate & Find .RPT File. 2) Read the .RPT to find point of error. 3) Correct Mod error. 4) Sync Changes with Steam WHERE TO FIND .RPT: 1) Confirm your launch parameters do not include -nologs 2) Launch game, attempt to join server. The mod error will not propagate into the .RPT 3) File location is as follows: - Windows Vista/7/8/10: %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Arma 3 - Windows XP & Older: %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Arma 3 - Complete Pasthing: %This PC%\%Drive%\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Arma 3 Note: %---% titles are dependent on the names you created. IE %userprofile% is your user name for the computer and %Drive% will be Primary(C:) for example, depending on where you installed Arma3 4) Open the most recent .RPT File Note: Format for file is as follows arma3_"Year"_"Month"_"Day"_"Hour"-"Minutes"-"Seconds" HOW TO READ .RPT: 1) Locate something similar to the image below. You MAY have more then one "false" this signifies that the mod has not properly loaded. Note: The following .RPT files/images your will vary in content but be similar in format. Raw pastebin example: http://pastebin.com/JvSyszkq - Line 621 through 628 is the format for the information you are looking for. CORRECT ERROR IN A3: 1) Once you have tracked what mods have no loaded, annotate them and launch A3. Note: There are many ways to fix a mod error and various issues that can cause it. You could in fact have a complete Mod and A3 may just not be finding the correct directory. 2) Find the offending mods(s) in your A3 Mod tab. To confirm that the file is correct pointed to, click folder. It should open up a new window inside the @MOD folder. If however you end up in the Arma3 folder and you see a list of @Mod1, @Mod2, et al the folder not working correctly. 2a) If broken, delete folder, download and verify again. Attempt to connect. 3) If the folder is correctly pointed too, delete the contents then click verify in A3. Attempt to connect. 4) Do this for all offending folders. SYNC WITH STEAM: In the Arma3 Launcher, click Mods then in the upper right click Local Files. Confirm that the paths here are similar to A3. Program files>Steam>steamapps>common>Arma 3> @Mod At this point both A3 and Arma3 Steam Launcher will be pointed to the same folders. You will no longer need to update separately.
  19. BE WARNED ADJUSTING LAUNCH PARAMETERS IS AN "ADVANCED" SKILL SET, YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY INTENT: My goal is to help users on this server deal with the recent drop in frames and screen flicker created by the new aptly named "Potato" version. MY COMPUTER AT A GLANCE: Processor: i5-4690K @3.50 GHz Installed RAM: 8GB DDR3 System type: 64-bit Windows 10 Pro, x64-based processor Motherboard: Gigabye GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 GPU: Nvdia STRIX GTX970 4GB DDR5 @ 1273 MHz OC LAUNCH PARAMETERS: If all you care about is getting the information to plug into your game, just look here. A3 Launcher: -nologs; -cpuCount=4; -nosplash; -exThreads=7; -maxMem=2000; -maxVRAM=2000; -malloc=system Steam Launcher:-nologs -cpuCount=4 -nosplash -exThreads=7 -maxMem=2000 -maxVRAM=2000 -malloc=system HOW TO ENABLE: A3 LAUNCHER 1. Open A3Launcher 2. Upper right hand corner, select settings. 3. Scroll down to Additional Parameters and Copy and Paste the above string. You do not need to check box No Splash and No Logs. You may check Windowed Mode, however I run my windowed mode settings directly through my Geforce Experience settings and have not attempted it through A3. I have no recommendations on tips for doing it through A3. - See image below for more guidance STEAM 1. Open STEAM 2. Go to Library, scroll down to Arma3 3. Right click Arma3, scroll down and select Properties 4. Click General Tab in the Arma 3- Properties Dialogue box. 5. Click Set Launch Options 6. In the new Launch Options-Arma 3 Dialogue Box copy and paste the above string. - See image below for more guidance [/color] WHY THESE COMMANDS? -nologs Removes .RPT Log creation, decreases start up time and reduces screen flicker. CPU and Ram is no longer tasked with writing .RPT on launch. IMPORTANT NOTE: Be aware this means no errors saved are to RPT file. If you need to bug check for launch failures or want to send an error report you need to delete this parameter in order to generate the error code in your .RPT file. -cpuCount=4 ]This defines the amount of CPUs/cores available. It can be used to simulate dual cores on a quad core as well. The number is actually dependent on the type of CPU. i5's and above in general can reliably use the value of 4. Lower CPU's will have to be tested on your own. You can lower the affinity to a value of 2 if you are experience over-scheduling. An additional parameter for those with i7's is: -enableHT This parameter will enable hyper threading and increase overall performance. It is recommended that if you enable HT, to change your -cpuCount= value to maximum cores or even remove it in order to maximize performance and prevent over scheduling. -nosplash Disables splash screens, decreases start up time. -exThreads=7 Change to a number 0,1,3,5,7. This will override auto detection (which use 3 for dualcore and 7 for quadcore). In this case for an i5 with 4 cores, I use 7 in order to always ensure that maximum threads are utilized for the game. -maxMem=2047 Defines memory allocation limit to number (in MegaBytes). 256 is hard-coded minimum (anything lower falls backs to 256). 2047 is hard-coded maximum (anything higher falls back to 2047). In this case, I have set it to 2047, despite the fact that the computer is supposed to allocate memory on demand. The reason is 1) To always ensure maximum allocation in order to prevent throttling in system. 2) Prevent memory dumps by creating a maximum cap. NOTE: 2047 is the hard cap max for the game, but users with 32gb systems can force the game to use more. However this requires complex changes in the .config of the game and can lead to more bugs and is no recommended unless you have a strong grasp on coding mechanism. -maxVRAM= 2047 Defines Video Memory allocation limit to number (in MegaBytes). 128 is hard-coded minimum (anything lower falls backs to 128). The value is ignored if engine properly detected VRAM size (then it utilize most minus 5 to 10%). In this case I have set 2047 for the following three reasons. 1) My GTX970 is under utilized, Arma3 only demands 1% when using automatic detection. 2) 2047 sets utilization at 13% which is a value I am comfortable with. 3) 13% is a good low end range with enough buffer to prevent overheating on the GPU and over-scheduling on my system due to the fact that I run three monitors. Basically, at 13% forced utilization for the game, I can still have chrome/ts open on one monitor, youtube/netflix on the second, and the game on the third. This allows me to utilize at around 30-40% with 108% OC and maintain temps under 62*C for long term gaming sessions. REFERENCES: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Startup_Parameters
