  1. One downside I failed to realize is that destructibility of these structures. IOT, most structures, walls, etc. can be destroyed unlike the upgraded walls we build in game. : (
  2. Good conversation last night on possibly making RESPECT a more useful element of the game. Harder to acquire than TABS and a better indicator of time spent playing the game. With all the "help" folks get on the server, not uncommon for the tabs to rack up, but RESPECT is a different story. So what if we had some high end items that could only be purchased with tons of RESPECT. Like the Green or Blue VR suits or some specific vehicles and/or paint schemes. Doesn't have to be hard, we could create a list of items and Admins could broker the purchases, for example, Sarge could deduct 250k Respect from my character should I purchase a Blue VR suit from him, etc. Be kinda cool IMHO.
  3. Really appreciate the constant attention and work that has gone into keeping the server fresh - SHOUT OUT to Jason and X8!!!!! Most notably are sporadic missions/events that don't show on the map - helo crashes and new roving vehicles. Also appreciate new mission spawn locations and the new AI aircraft, CH-53, armed Cessna, and MI-8. Did experience some minor FPS degradation, but chop was less than before. Well Done Guys!   4. How cool would it be to have a custom base utilizing the many ARMA building objects available? You could have a farm, military, port, etc., themed base. Would be AWESOME and likely help with overall server performance relative to client side having to load all those things we’ve built – reducing object count and lessening load on server. Like the VR Suit, this would have to be an end game option, something earned by active membership, participation and hard work. I would recommend the following: Custom base would have to be built/designed by the player and require admin approval; expectation would be a modest design, reasonable footprint – not a small city! The player would have to pay $500k Tabs, and $200k Respect for the right to build. “Any” changes requires another $500k tabs, and $100k respect; to occur no more than once every 60 or 90 days – this will encourage folks to get it right the first time and not ask for frequent updates. A level I flag will be placed to identify the player and ensure rent/protection is paid to differentiate between active and non-active players. No additional flag poles or objects, except placing of safe would be allowed – you forfeit this to mitigate object count.
  5. Certain all actions were taken with best interest to server not realizing second or third order effects. That's why we have a forum, to exchange information, correct? May prove beneficial to have a guide or rule book for admins reference. Could address things like: - Teleportation, when appropriate, when not. - Completing missions, admin assist when....? - Replacing gear or vehicles, anomolies only not repeat glitches or bad luck. - Base building, base moving? - Tab/item compensation for items lost to PVP or glitches, etc. Admin time can be better utilized deleting abandoned vics, mitigating player conflicts, enforcing rules like claiming/marking missions, etc. Additionally they could occassionally role play, for example SARGE's construction company can pack up your base if you choose to move it, the cost is $50k for level 1, $75k for level 2, etc. LT's recovery service can bring you fuel for a nominal fee; point is nothing is FREE, if you want it, it costs.
  6. Admin powers should be exercised with extreme caution, once an admin helps a player - THEY CAN'T DO ENOUGH! I believe persistent struggle is what makes the game appealing. Extreme wealth, mega bases and unlimited cash through "meta-gaming" lessens the appeal IMHO. When admins dawn their superhero cape to clear missions, hand out the rewards, replace lost vehicles (not due to glitches) there’s definitely instant gratification but the overall experience is arguably diminished. Admins are referees, they ensure gameplay is seamless, players are legit, and make the tough calls when needed. Admins should be encouraged to play the game and participate in missions as a “player” not a superhero. When issues arise, they leave the field, put on their admin clothes and become a referee. For example, if a player shoots a tank with six AT missiles and can't kill it (glitch), an admin might disable it. If all the AI are killed on a mission and it fails to complete, an admin might investigate. Alternatively, admins shouldn't randomly clear or complete missions, that's the player’s job. They shouldn’t grossly accelerate player’s wealth accumulation or respect so they can buy tanks or build mega bases within hours of joining the server. Teamwork, mutual respect, skillful gameplay and hard work should be respective of player’s wealth and respect. Otherwise, let’ all start off with $1M of each and kick some AI ass, lol!
  7. Rumors and speculation... Where can't I build, can I use my armored vehicle to attack a mission, can I leave vehicles at trader, am I allowed to be in the OGG Group? We need a splash screen, link to forum, and occasional server banner directing players to source of basic RULES. Too many opinions and assumptions as to what is acceptable. It's not fair to the admins to decipher expectations each time a player joins. This is too easy, something like: JOIN THE OGG GROUP to help distinguish players from AI!!!!! Join TS to coordinate with other players/admins as necessary. Intentional PVP and/or stealing will get you banned. Claim missions or ask to join if already claimed. No building of bases within XXX meters of spawn. No building of bases in cities or towns within XXX meters. No building within/on existing structures unless ruins. No more than one base at a time. Vehicles left at trader, abandoned, left in a field, erratically parked, etc. for more than one server cycle are subject to deletion. Whining, excessive cursing, disrespecting admins, etc. will get you banned. NOTE: The limited use of vehicles on missions is frustrating and confusing. The AI are equiped and capable of destroying them and I contend if you can afford to lose it, then you may use it. That means the admins WILL NOT replace it if you decide to try it. Otherwise, let's get back to the basics and limit the level of ARMORED Vics currently available.
  8. Thank you Deadman and others which have made this server/community possible. I know that the expenses associated with server rentals for ARMA, TS, and the forum aren't free. Neither is the time spent on management, scripting, developing, hosting, admining, etc. The collective efforts of all is what makes this possible and it's not reasonable for any one person to bear this responsibility. I pledge to be a reoccuring donor to help with said expenses. I hope others will consider the entertainment value the server and help as well. I know the cost of a movie ticket or one trip to McDonalds isn't nearly as entertaining as 4+ hours on the server. That said, you'll get my McNugget money and movie ticket cash as long as you keep up the great work. Cheers!
  9. Good times on the Server, very challenging and full of surprises. Thank you Jason and X8 for all your hard work in keeping things fresh. Last few days have been tougher than normal due to repeated unscheduled restarts for script errors, etc. Would like to suggest that maybe new coding and scripting be tested on a beta/test server database or limited to certain times or days of the week. From a players perspective I have had multiple missions scrubbed or interrupted due to an uscheduled restart, only to be followed by a scheduled restart shortly following. Now that the holidays are over, game time is very limited so I'd like to get the most out of my investment (time). Great work nonetheless, than you! Cheers!

  11. Thanks for the great response and taking time to address my points, much appreciated! Got Tanks? - Yea, understand this is tough and easily abused. The ai having anti-armor does a good job of balancing the equation, most of the time. Landlords a mean bastard - this has been changed to 14 days effectively the 4pm CST restart on 12/28/15 - AWESOME! Thank you! Condominiums and retirement homes - "The single largest drain on the server right now are player bases." Bases... Maybe you can get folks to tone down the bases a bit if they are told how it impacts the server - many people just don't know. Vehicles left unlocked - rather than constantly burden the admins with looking into each vehicle... shouldn't marking the map be sufficient if the player chooses not to lock it? Appreciate all! Time to game!

  13. Definitely looking forward to crafting of concrete, steel, etc.; guess that's a future update. Additional crafting options would be awesome, option to purchase post-crafted items at burdened cost is also worth keeping for folks that get annoyed by tedious nature of crafting.

  15. Agree with most of what has been said. Especially the AI Base, which should be EPIC, like an ongoing server event that requires the collective effort of many to complete, not easily done and widely feared. The bikes in road are annoying and troublesome, mission vehicles de-spawning within minutes of mission completion also annoying. Underwater missions probably wasted resources; alternatively, love the A-10 rescue mission, very nice! Frame rate and lag is becoming problematic, need a scripting guru to look for opportunities to increase efficiency. Keep hearing about the infamous invulnerable AI, although extremely tough on occasion, I have been able to kill ai in every encounter I have had. Scuba uniform de-spawning on restarts is VERY frustrating. Would like to see weather events, don't recall that feature happening on this server. Addicted to the GAME, server rocks - need therapy! Good job guys!
