  3. I would like to start by saying this rant is aimed at a very small minority of players who believe it is their duty to smash every fucking mission on the map one after the other. I have just come out of the game to cool down before I lose my fucking rag and blow some twat out of the sky. I mission in a Tigris with an Ammo Hemit on tow so my speed traversing the map is very slow. If I am in my Heli and decide on which mission I would like I check the map to see if any other player is heading towards the mission if they are I'll check with them on com's if they are going to the same mission, if they are and they clearly started out before I did I will leave them to it regardless if they are within the 2K limit or not, I know I could clearly beet him to the 2K limit but it's not fair on the slower moving players to always get duped by the helicopter, like I said before most of the players in game also do this, but a very small minority don't, I was at the central trader and picked a mission on the west side of the map nobody was in the vicinity of the mission and nobody was on the way to the mission so I started out I got halfway there and a player in a helicopter beat me to the 2K limit and marks the mission so I let that slide and another mission spawned on the south east side of the map so I turned around put my directional mark on the map 10 km out, I didn't mark the mission just a directional marker, now 10 km in a tracked vehicle is going to take me awhile, I got to within 2.9 km of the mission stopped to check the map and the same player who took my first mission was now marking and clearing the second mission all legal as far as the rules go because he was inside the 2 km mark but it gave me the raving fucking hump that he didn't have the decency to see if I was going to that mission I was the only player on the right hand side of the map clearly going to the only mission on the right hand side so I had two options left open to me 1 was to stick a Titan Missile up his fucking exhaust pipe, and 2 was to go back to my base and log off for some chill time, I chose option 2. This player hadn't at any time broking any of the rules but I think the 2 km rule might have to be looked at as far as ground vehicles and air vehicles, 2 km rule for air and say 3.5 km for wheeled vehicles to give the players on the ground a fighting chance, just a suggestion anyway. BLOODLUST some sort of blood mods would be nice BNAE is pretty cool too... LAPUA for X8... check it out X, different versions of the LAPUA I have been playing on a server that has a lot of these mods plus a bunch of other mods with missions, with town invasions, with a holy crap ton of roaming AI vehicles(militarized and very dangerous) as well as random spawning GI roaming AI so I know it can be done BTW, I know somebody who coded his own server and he offered help a while ago. I asked him if he wouldn't mind helping me with coding, he seemed like he wouldn't mind helping. If any of the Devs need help with coding I could talk to him and get you all in touch with each other.

  7. Hello and welcome Doc I have seen a few players leaving there crates stroon about so I will explain the best i can with pictures. Once mission is completed Scroll wheel on crate to get 3 options Inventory - Loot through your bountiful loot Take Crate - Take the crate and you CAN run with it by Pressing yout zero key on your numpad Load Crate - Loads the crate into "MOST" vehicles Once you have Click on Load Crate into, were going to make sure we are with in 25m of our vehicle and scroll wheel again at the VERY top of the list were going to choose ...Load in " Your Vehicle Name Here" Now once were at the Trader and with in 50m of the waste dump, scroll wheel on this guy Now you'll get 4 options PER vehicle you have gotten into the driver seat in the play session. BE SURE which vehicle your are selling from, you don't want to sell your 30 titan missiles by accident. lol Vehicle Cargo - This is the Inventory of your Vehicle Loaded Contents Cargo - This is the Inventory of the Crate INSIDE your Vehicle Loaded Contents + Cargo - This is the inventory of the Crate AND THE CRATE "No Tabs for the Crate" Vehicle + All Cargo - This is the Inventory of the Vehicle, the Inventory of the Crate, The Crate itself, and The Vehicle itself BONUS INFO THERE IS NO INCEPTION Example Vest has an Instadoc on it. if you sell the loot from your vehicle it will ONLY see the vest. Teleports, heals and Event Vehicles will be supplied by the admin team hosting the event, no purchase is necessary, and there is nothing to lose. Read below for further details, rules and prizes.   9. So one thing I've noticed, and many can agree with, is the obscene and ridiculous reaction to AI. Increase in difficulty shouldn't mean that the enemy can spot you 1.4k away, full ghillie, behind that rock and tree on an elevated position without firing a shot. It's ridiculous how the AI react. If you know how to configure it, VCOM2 can even the playing field and still make things challenging while being more fair to us instead of getting hammered by gunfire while prone no matter where we move to at any distance. I might as well be running up to them with a shotgun at the rate they spot snipers in this game.

  11. well.... oh dear.... Back in the old days there was one hard fast rule put down by Deadman and Jason, no cruise missiles and no artillery ever. So i have been sticking with that for the reasons Dane gave above. far far too easy to wipe out another players entire worldly possesions with one click and you never know you did it. Not just to protect all the other players from the artillery but also to protect the owner of the multi million rep sandstorm, as soon as someone owns one of those every "lost" "missing" blown up" vehicle on the map from that point on will be blamed on the idiot shooting off that damned artillery again. As you know, we get "missing" vehicles every day, i know most of those are due to bad parking and "Arma'd" but you would be getting full blame for every one of those vehicles every day. Then just for simple game play fun challenge stuff. With a sandstorm you can sit in your base and wipe out all the missions on the map in under a minute. Fun to do once i'm sure. But then what? You just won arma, game over? play something else?

  12. 1.) In the current system a player would need to get in touch with an admin to upgrade respect to newer vehicles. 2.) In regards to adding vehicles to the list I would either private message x8 or find him on the TeamSpeak server to talk about it. 3.) With approval from Deadman and X8 I can implement something to transfer respect between players. Or you could ask x8 about it (I’m not really sure)

  13. As a self certified computer engineer I can confidently say this would decrease server lag and reduce cpu temp by almost forty percent saving the community millions of pesos. If this doesn't work for some reason I will accept complete responsibility. Please implement.

  14. I have noticed A LOT of vehicles parked throughout the map that are left unlocked. Each time I log in, I hear about how so and so lost such and such vehicle. A few times I moved them to a central lot by trader for people to find and then would delete or sell them off at the end of the week. That money would go to new players to help them out. Before you start complaining about lost vehicles, please make sure you make every attempt to lock them! For tracked vehicles, you will need to set up a USER ACTION command on #1 and set it to U. This is under the main game settings in the configure section. Thanks!

  15. Ok I would like to make a suggestion based upon something I saw in another server (over30gaming) if you want to check these mods revisions out... Base - If you have a flag planted then during respawn option of respawn places includes your base... Virtual garage - nothing needs be said about this mod...need it Zombies...Some of the towns had red zones zombies only spawned inside those red zones or at night.. There were several other XM8 mods like vehicle health, player scanner, and a few others... One I would like to include but have not seen on any server....persistent individual map marks that carry over through restarts IE Your base location... Can't tell ya how many times I've spent more than 5 minutes marking places on map I wish to know distance and direction to after restarts...

  16. in speaking with a lot of you, i've heard some great ideas for server-wide events. 'let's do something fun....' ok, twist my arm. =) here's a few things i'm working on.. some have been done before, a few are unique. let me know what you guys think, and PLEASE feel free to post your own suggestions. the latter statement applies to EVERYTHING, not just events.... west coast to east coast death race - players will drive from a point on the west coast to a point on the east coast using whatever route they please. vehicles will be provided, and you'll start out with a certain amount of repair items/meds/food. once you're out of these items, good luck... if you die, it's game over. the more people involved, the greater the rewards. rubbin' is racin' boys and girls, but no firearms. the best shot on OGG - pretty straight forward here.. we give you your weapon of choice and you show us what a good shot you are. target distances can vary, and a winner will be established by a traditional points system. once again.. the more people involved, the greater the reward. the ultimate dogfight - again pretty straight forward.. we put you in some sort of aircraft, and you show us what a good pilot you are.. maybe even a team sort of deal for helicopter ops. i was thinking of a bracket sort of system for this, seeing as how teams may be involved. squad vs squad combat - we cordon off an area or build something somewhere for squad/player vs player combat. this won't be a free-for-all where everyone has a PvP fest... think of it as a paintball/airsoft match with either team, 2v2, or 1v1 combat. this will HAVE to be a bracket system depending on how many players want to participate. players vs admins - we actually 'let' the players try to take us out... no god mode or any of the other fun stuff involved. this can go in a lot of directions depending on player base interest. personally i'm completely for building a gigantic admin event base and letting you guys come at us with everything you've got, but we could go about an event like this in a way like the before mentioned event ideas. remember that regardless of the event nuances, we'll be fighting back. =) as always, let us know what you think and ALWAYS feel free to make your own suggestions. everything always goes into consideration, as long as it's in reason.

  19. Event has ended. Thank you for coming and congrats to all the participants. Some unforeseen things came up. Doors give "access denied" after several tries, even after waiting 5 mins. Thought it'll forever be wait 5 mins and try again. The winners glitching through the door. Doors glitching Funny moments that came up. People discovering the true meaning of being arma'd. Countless people died today due to base/stair glitches. Thank you to Johnny for helping out with reviving. Seeing people through CCTV cameras. Since I decided to give the "glitch through doors" winners the prize. The participants were given 20,000 tabs each for staying until the very end. Thank you again for stopping by and here are some screenshots. Thank you for the admins that made this event possible, Pete and Johnny Anarchy. There may be more events in the future, something less terrifying (fear of stairs). Pictures below:

  20. Hi Guys, My thought is to get a bunch of players together on a weekend day and run a cross country rally race. This would be done to generate interest in the server by offering In Server/Non Arma reliant content. Basically building something using available tools and some imagination. It would work something like this: All players start at a start line (it can be pairs like a rally race, with one being navigator/gunner) and with the same vehicle type. Presumably something with some speed like a hunter or Qilan. They have to run a course across or around the map, checking in at key checkpoints to pick up colors of smoke grenades to confirm they went there. While they can go offroad to attempt shortcuts, roads offer higher travel speeds to reach checkpoints. Officials/Admins running the race determine the type of vehicle and whether its a fighting race, and monitor the race overhead using choppers. In fact there is no reason vehicles can't be helis as well. Jets would not be realistic as they could not land at the checkpoints to collect markers. The courses can be as long or short as Admins wish, as long as checkpoints are clearly labelled. Hence the need for a navigator. Each vehicle would be issued a set number of duct tape for repairs as well as instadocs and a defib kit. Fighting races can be anything from simple smash up derby style to air-air combat on the fly. To the winner(s) would go prestige loot crates or even money prizes toward vehicle purchases. ( I am unclear whether respect can be issued by Admins toward the Prestige Vehicle list on the Forums). I think this would offer a tremendous opportunity to attract new players to the server and make the Old Guys Gaming servers stand out in a crowded community.   21. As many as Troublesim , Dane and X8 think it needs, they are the guys that look at the pro's and cons of each Mod that goes on the servers. Be patient there are other servers in OGG that need tending to atm P.S Spread the word on the server, the more that know the more votes it will hopefully get.

SO, I'm posting it here to see if anyone is intrested: Arma Battleship - Award to winner is the combined $ from buy-in and vechs not destroyed Event is played as battleship is normally played. -setting is with players in a location wher ther is a hill infront of the players obscuring target locations. Players are allowed to set up pieces (various vechs, variying in value (as in battleship) in a resonably sized area. Artillary will be used for the engaement. Admin will observe and if nessary confirm hit/miss/destroyed. continues untill one teams vechs are compleatly destoryed. i was hoping to find a way to take advantage of the existance of artillry being usable in the game but still in a controlled environment -the inclusion of the term 'direct hit' to help assist targeting and progression to a destroyed vech. -the event of a tie will result a refund of $ only. co-ords for mission are away from player bases and mission spawns 205068 shooting plat (this puts arty comp on 'close' for smallest dispersion abt 1500m) TarAr-b 194058, 195056 (two corners of a 200x200 grid) TarAr-a 190074, 192077 Players will b encouraged to set waypoint marks to aid in ther setup 2 x 2 player teams 1 shooter 1 defence spotter (D-hit, Damaged "vech(s)", miss, u sunk my Lada...) 1 spotter vech Humvee er somthin (ability to survey TarAr) 1 Scorcher per team 20 shots per team (HE) then spotters switch for a guided sudden death type thing Vechs Strider HMG Van Fuel Ammo Hemmt Lada Ikarus A6 Escort ('il bird) Taru Repair Tempest BTR - 60 Buy in is 100k per team looser can keep all destroyed vechs

  25. starting this thread with the hope that the arma 3 community can contribute a little bit more input.... what is it that you'd like to see on our arma 3 (pve evile/pve reborn) servers? (within reason) what are we doing that you like/dislike? how do you think we can improve? there's no such thing as a bad answer.. give us some feedback.

  26. Ladies and gentlemen, convicts one and all! I've had a few suggestions for some time now to perhaps make your exile experience better. 1. Bicycles. Holy lord almighty these spawns of satan are terrible. I've talked to numerous people on the server and they all agree they should not be a thing. You dsync to easily on them, people hit them at fast speeds and break their stuff which leads to our admins favorite call "Admiiin I need help!*, and as we all know that's been getting old for a while Now. With that said, what I suggest is rather than having a bunch of bikes spawned all over these towns how about a smaller amount of something you don't see others having trouble with? preferable quads? Karts? I understand the reason for them, to get back to wherever quickly and not have to run 3000m or whatever, but that's all fine and dandy until you die two more times trying to get there and losing whatever you died with anyway. Its happened to me more than I can count on both hands. 2. Spawn Kits. Now I love these spawn kits to say the least but I feel they are not up to par with what you get. Now my math is probably way off so bar with me. say you have 300,000 respect and you spawn the kit with the AK and long range optic. That's great but after 500,000 respect (I think) you spawn with the M24 sniper that has less range than your last kit. It could be me but it seems a little off. And wheres the NVGs man? you would think that after half a million respect you would earn the right to at least a pair of NVGs right? 3. Static (AT). Now this is more of a personal "I think it would be cool" type of suggestion. I know of alot of players who save the static (AA) missiles and keep them at their base. How about those (AT)s though? could be used for base raids or help in assisting in the slums missions if you have a close enough base build to hit them at. Just a thought 4. Server Notifications. So we have had problems of people joining the server and not knowing the rules or not knowing the teamspeak. and I know that it all pops up in the bottom left and rolls through chat but take into account that its small and hard to read. Now I've seen in other servers that when you join it pops up in big, colorful letters right in your face for a few seconds. really gets the message across and I feel it would help our new players get the help and info they need

  27. love the suggestions guys... keep 'em comin!! here's what i know pertaining to what you guys have put forth. bicycles - they spawn randomly, which i know can sometimes be in the middle of the road.. which leads to problems, because they're considered static objects/vehicles until a player enacts with them. i think the most direct cause of action would be to do away with them completely, but that would also hinder new players who have no way of getting around. something we can do a poll on or chat about for sure. spawn kits - trixie and random hero put a TON of work into these, so i'd hate to see that 'go to waste'. i think maybe some revision of the kits themselves would benefit players. granted the map IS full of loot, and it's not a difficult process to gear up, i think that doing away with them completely would be an error. static ATs - you're always going to run into players who 'exploit the system' with unlimited ammo, doesn't matter if it's an AT launcher or a Kamish. i know that this topic WAS discussed at our meeting earlier this month, and we're working on that 'happy medium' level of play on a daily basis. having said that and not knowing how to make arma NOT recognize statics as vehicles, we may be in-between a rock and a hard place. something else we can talk/poll about for certain, but it would seem that the only way of eliminating people abusing them would be to do away with player usable static launchers entirely. that would kinda negate the need for sales prices for these items, but i like where you guys are going with the prices.. they seem pretty fair. server notifications - i think having something pop up that says 'server rules are on your xm8' along with our web address would benefit all players, especially the newer ones. as far as i know, we have something like that implemented. once again, something that can be discussed. what i will continue to ask from you guys (a lot of you can ignore this..) is a little bit of patience. troublesim has literally just finished his exams last week, and he's more than likely in need of some rest, relaxation, and decompression. please don't expect results/changes overnight, when he chooses to do work on arma 3 is TOTALLY up to him or anyone else involved in that area. overall, i love the suggestions guys and gals.

  28. I agree with this in general, with a few tweaks from my experiences on other servers. PLEASE NOTE: I mean absolutely no disrespect to the owners/admins of OGG; think of this as a "product review" and not as a "you failed, you're bad" post. 1. Bicycles. Definitely can be annoying, and I understand why they're there. I don't think they HAVE to be removed - you need to be watching the road if you're driving and they really are quite easy to see and avoid if you're doing so - but there are certainly better options. One option I've seen is to be able to spawn in an ATV by double clicking on your radio in your inventory. This can be made so you can only do it while in bambi status, and can spawn in a $0-sell, non-persistent ATV that allows for quick transit back to your dead body, and without all the glitches and headaches of bikes. (I've also seen bikes be the thing that spawns, and while that solves the "bikes in the road" problem, it doesn't address the unreliableness of the bike itself). 2. Spawn kits. I do think these are quite good, but I also agree that nvg's (not the nvg helm from apex, but the generic nvg's) would be a nice addition at some respect point. Perhaps these just need revisited/rebalanced/updated in general? 3. Static (AT). Here I think exists a problem. If you setup a static - of any kind - and park a ammo truck by it, you get infinite ammo. The whole point of not allowing vehicles to participate in the static missions is to provide a mission type for people who desier something harder; a mission that requires a higher tier of awareness and finesse. Having anyone able to do these missions because they can just bombard the town with free, unlimited AT rockets seems to defeat that idea; but maybe I have the wrong concept about those missions. As far as how to keep them from being used on static missions...idk. The game clearly recognizes them as a vehicle - since they rearm off an ammo truck - so maybe there's your answer. 3.a. I would like to see those Titan launchers you pickup from other missions be worth something in the shop for selling purposes. Maybe a little rework on how these and the mounted 50's show up and their costs? For instance: for each MG (mounted gun) that will spawn at a mission, it has a 70% chance to be a 50-cal, a 25% chance to be an AT titan, and a 5% chance of being an AA Titan. BUT we also change the pricing a little. ALL tripods sell for $1000. 50-cal's sell for $1500. AT sell for $2000. AA sell for $5000. This will make picking up those MG's worth it, but not make millionaires out of people over night. 4. Server notifications. I DEFINITELY agree that the current server messages are far from adequate. As a long time Exile player, the very first thing I do when I join a new server is open my tablet and read the rules; but brand new players don't even know they have a tablet sometimes. Currently, the server doesn't welcome you in any way. No MOTD or anything like that. You just have to wait for the timed messages to appear in chat. And then, it's just a huge block of text in the chat box that is at best ignored/hard to read, and at worst, interrupts conversations and fails to communicate the important info. A short MOTD that appears when you join asking you to read the rules on your XM8 (while explaining how to open said tablet) and to ask for an invite to the OGG player group would be much more clean. Also, the server rules on both the XM8 and forums need to be updated as soon as they're added to/changed in any way (just a quick edit of the config files for the next time the server restarts). If the rules on the tablet don't state "you cannot claim the static missions", for instance, then it's nearly impossible for the "public" to enforce that rule and leads to calls for 'admin' and/or disgruntled players. Once again, I'm trying to both provide feedback on the current state of server play and provide some possible solutions to those problems. I'm NOT trying to be a head-basher or anything I know you have a whole list of bugs and other issues to deal with as owners, developers, and admins. I hope these can be addressed, and would be willing to help in any way I can. Happy hunting!

  32. The next day or two I spent just roaming around. Houses were unowned but yet there were supplies and gear in them. At first I left stuff alone, thinking it was peoples, but then I saw the 'locals' taking stuff from the houses and decided I would too. By night fall I had a pistol belt and a small back pack, enough food for a couple days and clean water and a shotgun. Honestly I felt like hot stuff. I found an abandoned home in the middle of Athira and I hunkered down for the night. My mistake! I woke up to a rifle to my head, a guy going through my freshly acquired goods, and a very mean looking warlord who I was sure would kill me. He said I wasn't worth the bullet and instead he just took all my stuff and drove off, but I learned three important lessons. One, make sure I am some where more secure when I go to bed. Two, stash some food and water near by in case I'm discovered. Three, and most important of all, there are working vehicles on this island! So, I went about looking for more stuff.   33. Vehicle Space With the way Arma 3 handles vehicle space, as in its just a bar that fills when you plonk stuff in. I thought I'd do a rough guide as to what a vehicle can hold. I tested all these vehicles with a MK18 ABR 7.62 Rifle (with no attachments as that is more weight) which almost fills an empty Assault pack (Coyote). Note that the MK18 is a medium size gun. LMG's for example will take up more space, SMG's will take less. This guide is just to give a good idea of what you can drop into your vehicle.   40. Hi all, I think I'm not the only one that couldn't figure out how to spend my precious/hard earned respect on the prestige vehicles. From now on I will post information about prestige vehicles that I get my hands on. Of course I cannot afford to buy every single one of them. So I can only test them whenever an admin is in good mood to spawn me a temporary one to test out. Big thanks to Red Hands for spawn me the first vehicle I tested and documented. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AH-1Z Escort (this one might be the Hex version): Pilot weapon: inner-pod hydra rockets: 32 outer-pod hydra rockets: 32 Gunner weapon: M197 20mm cannon: 750 rounds AIM 9L sidewinder(AA): 2 Inventory capacity: 3000 Crate capacity: 0 Passenger capacity(exclude pilot and gunner): 0 Advanteges: Very comfortable to fly. Very stable. The HUD displays all the needed information including speed, altitude, weapon type, ammo, etc. Vehicles in front of you are highlighted on the HUD. The M197 gun is pretty decent. In my opinion the M197 gun is better than Mi-24 Superhind's gun. Disadvanteges: Top speed is not very fast (about 250 to 270 km/h). Not armored enough against .50cal and above. Probably will be killed with only one AA missile. Due to poor armor, AH-1Z cannot stay in battlefield for long. Cannot load crates.   43. Only being able to give an opinion about the Arma 3 servers I had to vote No. Either you become an Admin with all responsabilities, powers and perks or you just leave your fingers from it. I see no point in having "moderators" on the Arma servers that will only be equipped with watered down powers. You gave an example that moderators should only be able to teleport/kick/mute players , these are things that in my opinion should only be carried out by Admins!! When a player needs to be kicked or muted then he / she is bordering on a permaban for whatever reason. I am not sure that this is even possible with the Infistar Admin tool. All Admins should know what they are letting themselves in for and that they are going to have to sacrifice some game time so that others can play and have fun.
